Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design function on major data centre projects in Dublin. This role will suit a technically strong design professional with proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and delivering complex engineering design packages within fast-paced construction environments.
The successful candidate will take ownership of design coordination, programme alignment, stakeholder communication, design reviews, and technical delivery across all project stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the design team and coordinate all aspects of design delivery.
- Lead design reviews, technical workshops, and coordination meetings.
- Ensure design packages are delivered in line with programme, client requirements, quality standards, and project scope.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, client representatives, and project stakeholders.
- Review design documentation, drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
- Identify and resolve design risks, clashes, buildability issues, and coordination gaps.
- Support construction teams with design queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
- Ensure design deliverables are aligned with project schedule, procurement timelines, and construction sequencing.
- Manage design change, technical issues, and design information flow.
- Maintain strong communication between design, commercial, procurement, and site teams.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Design Manager, Design Lead, Technical Manager, or Senior Design Coordinator.
- Strong experience on data centre projects is essential.
- Background in engineering, construction, architecture, or building services.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Ability to manage consultants, contractors, and internal design teams.
- Strong knowledge of construction delivery, buildability, and design programme management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure on fast-moving, technically complex projects.
