Job Summary:
Based in Cork City and reporting to the Project Manager for Cork. This role ensures that streetlights and other public lighting fixtures are functioning correctly and safely, enhancing public safety and visibility in public spaces.
Responsibilities:
Public Lighting Patrol & Inspection
Patrol assigned routes to identify faults in public lighting infrastructure (e.g. lamps out, flickering lights, damaged columns, exposed wiring).
Detect and report collisions, vandalism, or safety hazards involving lighting assets.
Monitor lighting performance and identify recurring or systemic issues.
Fault Reporting & Documentation
Accurately log faults using company systems (mobile device, handheld unit, or written reports).
Record location, asset numbers, fault type, and urgency level.
Liaise with the Public Lighting Supervisor or Control Centre regarding urgent or dangerous defects.
Provide clear handover reports at the end of each shift.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Carry out night patrol of public lighting inventory per defined route.
Conduct regular patrols to inspect streetlights and other public lighting fixtures.
Identify and document lighting outages, damages and other malfunctions
Accurate reporting of all findings and issues using designated reporting system
Communicate urgent issues to the Project Manager
Customer & Public Interaction
Act as a professional representative of the company when dealing with members of the public, Gardaí, or emergency services.
Provide reassurance and information where appropriate, within role limits.
Escalate public safety concerns immediately.
Driving standards
Demonstrated excellent driving skills, ensuring safe, efficient vehicle operation in varied conditions.
Maintains high standards of vehicle cleanliness and conducts regular checks to ensure optimal condition and safety.

Required Qualifications:
Familiarity with public lighting systems is desirable.
Strong observational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Basic proficiency in using computers and mobile devices for reporting
Comfortable driving for extended periods in various weather conditions
Experience:
Previous driving experience
Certifications:
Full Clean manual driver’s license.
