Job Purpose
To develop and optimise new and existing products and manage the successful transfer and integration into the production process.
To create engaging brand content across digital platforms to increase awareness of the Mr Crumb Brand, it’s associated brands and the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
Areas of Responsibility
· Develop new recipes and reformulate existing products in line with business objectives, customer requirements, cost targets, and market trends.
· Conduct product trials, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life assessments where required.
· Source and assess new ingredients, packaging and technologies to improve product quality, efficiency, and innovation.
· Maintain accurate development records, specifications, and documentation.
· Lead the transition of new product developments from development stage to full-scale manufacturing.
· Plan and coordinate factory trials with the production team.
· Develop clear manufacturing instructions for production to ensure consistent product quality and specification are achieved.
· Work closely with Production, Technical and Purchasing teams to ensure the success of product launches and product improvement processes.
· Troubleshoot issues in production relating to the introduction and performance of new products in the manufacturing process.
· Create engaging content including product launches, behind-the-scenes development stories, company updates, and promotional campaigns.
· Work with management to ensure all communications align with brand values and business objectives.
· Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to increase brand awareness and customer interaction.
· Develop and maintain a social media content calendar with regular updates across relevant platforms.
· Monitor food trends, competitor products, and consumer preferences to identify opportunities for innovation.
· Contribute ideas for new products, packaging improvements, and brand growth.
· Support cross-functional projects aimed at improving factory efficiency, product quality or the customer’s experience using our product.
Personal Specification
· Qualification or experience in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Arts, or a related discipline.
· A keen interest in product development and recipe formulations.
· Creative, with an interest in market trends, product marketing techniques and brand development.
· Willing to understand the manufacturing processes and capable of translating concepts into scalable production methods.
· Practical, hands-on approach, comfortable working both in both the development kitchen and on the production floor.
· Strong organisational skills necessary to manage a multi-disciplinary role.
· Strong written and visual communication skills for social media and marketing content creation.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
