Eirebloc currently wishes to recruit a maintenance manager.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- Clear communicator, with strong team leadership and interpersonal skills. A good team player with a can do attitude.
- Recognised qualification related to the area of maintenance, such as mechanical fitter.
- High level working knowledge and hands on experience of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic & automation systems, ideally in a heavy industry.
- Previous management experience.
- At least 15 years of hands on maintenance experience in a manufacturing factory.
Report To: Plant Manager
Summary: Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum safety, production, quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. This role will involve working very closely with the process engineer and is predominately hands on in nature.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to.
- Ensure the highest standards are maintained to comply with regulatory and on site safety standards.
- Technical support to shifts. On call for major breakdowns.
- Manage maintenance department/personnel to ensure maximum levels of plant and equipment uptime.
- Last line of defence for shift cover.
- In conjunction with the process engineer & plant manager, manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Assist the process engineer with the monitoring of the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiate reordering when necessary. Ensure spare parts are stored in a tidy manner.
- To co-ordinate all maintenance activities throughout the year including any planned annual maintenance shutdown/s. This also includes any contractors on site.
- To drive continuous improvement and cost reduction programmes across the maintenance functions.
- Maintain and repair maintenance shop equipment and power tools. Ensure the workshop is kept in a tidy condition.
- Manage the servicing and repair of any mobile equipment on site.
- Lead the maintenance function in PM's, trouble shooting and break down recovery.
- Co-ordinate change-over of moulds, adjustments to saws and after presses. Ensure a quick as possible change-over of moulds.
- If necessary provide cover for any fitter on shift unable to work.
- Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
- Assist with hiring of maintenance personnel. Train all newly hired fitters as required.
- Train and manage apprentices.
- Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
