About the Role
An established, award-winning building contractor is seeking an experienced Working Foreman to lead maintenance and minor works operations across a portfolio of contracts in North County Dublin. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a tradesperson with strong supervisory experience who can manage crews, subcontractors, and client relationships on live sites while remaining actively involved in the work itself.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of tradespeople and general operatives across multiple maintenance sites/contracts
- Plan and sequence daily/weekly works to meet client SLAs and response-time targets
- Carry out hands-on trade work as required, setting the standard for quality and pace on site
- Liaise directly with client representatives (facilities managers, building owners) on scope, progress, and issue resolution
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors and specialist trades
- Ensure all works comply with health & safety regulations; complete site inductions, RAMS, toolbox talks, and daily safety documentation
- Manage materials, plant, and van stock; raise orders and control waste
- Complete job sheets, timesheets, and works records accurately and on time, feeding into the company’s operations/reporting systems
- Identify and report additional works or defects, supporting the commercial team with variations and pricing information
- Maintain quality control and snagging standards across all completed works
- Support recruitment, mentoring, and performance management of site operatives
Requirements
- Trade qualification (e.g. carpentry, general building, plastering) or equivalent extensive experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a foreman/supervisory role, ideally within planned/reactive maintenance
- Proven ability to run multiple small works/maintenance sites simultaneously
- Strong working knowledge of Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and general construction H&S requirements
- Full clean driving licence (essential)
- Comfortable using mobile apps/systems for job management, timesheets, and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, particularly dealing directly with client-side representatives
- Based within reasonable commuting distance of North County Dublin
