Overview
We are seeking a mature, reliable and trustworthy individual to join our team as a Live-In Resident Duty Officer at a professionally managed residential property near Carrick-on-Suir.
This is not a full-time salaried position. Instead, it offers a unique arrangement combining:
- Rent-free accommodation
- Weekly standby allowance
- Paid working hours when carrying out active duties
The role is ideal for someone who already has daytime employment and wishes to significantly reduce their living costs while providing a responsible on-site presence during evenings, overnight periods and weekends.
The Role
You will live on the property under a Licence to Occupy and provide an on-site duty presence for approximately 12–60 standby hours per week, primarily covering:
- Evenings
- Overnight periods
- Weekends
During these periods you will be required to:
- Remain physically present on the property.
- Be immediately available to respond when required.
- Answer the duty phone.
- Respond to alarms or emergencies.
- Open access gates when required.
- Contact the emergency services where appropriate.
- Escalate urgent issues to management.
- Complete incident reports following any incident or call-out while on duty.
During overnight standby periods, you may sleep or relax within your accommodation, provided you remain on site and are available to respond immediately if required.
Pay & Benefits
This role combines accommodation with financial compensation.
Standby Allowance
€3.50 per hour for rostered standby duty.
Typical monthly standby earnings include:
- Approximately €168 per month (12 standby hours per week)
- Approximately €840 per month (60 standby hours per week)
Active Working Time
€16.00 per hour for:
- Two scheduled working hours each week.
- Any authorised call-outs requiring active attendance.
- Any additional duties approved by management.
Accommodation
- Rent-free accommodation provided.
- Utilities contribution of €150 per month, payable by the Occupant.
- Accommodation is provided solely because of the operational requirements of the role and is separate from wages.
Accommodation
The accommodation is located on the property and consists of:
- Self-contained accommodation.
- May be shared with one other Occupant.
- Separate private bedrooms.
Location
The property is located close to Carrick-on-Suir.
A full driving licence and access to your own reliable vehicle are essential, as public transport is not suitable.
The location provides an easy commute to:
- Waterford
- Clonmel
- Kilkenny
- Dungarvan
Many successful applicants combine this role with separate daytime employment.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- A calm, dependable and responsible personality.
- 5–10 years' general work experience.
- Confidence to act as the responsible on-site presence.
- The ability to remain calm during emergencies.
- A full, valid driving licence.
- Access to their own reliable vehicle.
Desirable (but not essential)
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- A current PSA Licence.
- Experience in security, hospitality, residential services, caretaking, facilities management or similar roles.
Applicants who do not hold a current PSA Licence may be offered the opportunity to complete PSA training following appointment if required for the role.
Compliance & Pre-Employment Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Successfully pass Garda Vetting.
- Complete Children First Training (provided).
- Complete Fire Safety Training.
- Follow company policy.
Please note: Successfully passing Garda Vetting is a pre-condition of employment. No offer of employment will become final, and no applicant may commence duties, unless Garda Vetting has been completed to the satisfaction of the Company.

Important Information
Please note: This position is designed to provide supplementary income and is unlikely to provide sufficient income as a sole source of earnings. It is best suited to applicants who already have, or intend to have, separate daytime employment (for example, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm).
