Days Per Week: 5 days of work Mon / including Weekends
Shift Pattern: Weekdays 08:00 -16:00, Weekends 09:00-17:00
Rate of pay: Weekdays -€14.80, Sunday premium €15.00
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, waiting rooms, corridors, restrooms, dining rooms, sluice rooms, staircases, and lifts.
- Perform regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces (e.g., door handles, lightswitches, handrails).
- Remove waste, including clinical and hazardous waste, in line with health andsafety regulations.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Mop, vacuum, and polish floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents.
- Follow cleaning schedules and complete checklists for daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning tasks.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and strictly adhere to infection control protocols.
- Support emergency cleaning needs, including spills and biohazard incidents.
Site-Specific Tasks (May Vary)
- Assist with terminal cleaning after patient discharge.
- Use specialized disinfectants for isolation rooms or infectious areas.
- Follow procedures for handling contaminated laundry or equipment.
- Participate in infection prevention and control training sessions.
- Coordinate with medical and nursing staff to minimize disruption during cleaning.
Special Considerations in Mental Health Settings
- Be mindful when working in secure or high-risk areas; always follow security and safety protocols.
- Use minimal or approved cleaning chemicals as per hospital policy.
- Adapt tasks based on patient needs or behavior, with guidance from clinical staff.
- Communicate calmly and respectfully, avoiding confrontation or intrusive behavior.
Working Conditions
- Work may involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Shift work, including weekends and public holidays, may be required.
- Work may take place in areas with potential exposure to bodily fluids or infectious materials (appropriate protection will be provided).
Practical
- Ensure high standard of cleaning as directed by management
- Use of cleaning equipment & Care of equipment.
Customer Relations
- Encourage good relations with all clients on contract site
- Promptly deal with any queries or complaints
Training
- Partake in basic induction training for new staff
- Partake in ongoing training on site
- Cooperate with safe working practices (manual handling/safe use of chemicals etc)
HSEQ
- Read, understand and work in accordance with the company’s HSEQ Policies.
- Complete tasks in accordance with company HSEQ procedures and work instructions
- Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed on site
- Use of Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment

It may be necessary to work alternative hours, shift patterns or unsociable hours, including weekends and sometimes more than contracted hours. As part of your job, you will be expected to attend training events and/or meetings and travel to other locations may be required. Local requirements will govern your patterns and locations of work.
