Quality Control and Training Manager - Healthcare
Job Description:
Reporting to the Contract Manager, the role holder will have ownership for the provision of Cleaning Services on site within a large acute hospital environment, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant and high-quality services aligned to healthcare standards.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Act as the point of contact and escalation for all Bidvest Noonan activities on behalf of the client in the absence of the Contract Manager
- Manage the client relationship and ensure a high level of service performance from Bidvest Noonan teams and suppliers
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, KPI, infection prevention & control (IPC) and audit requirements
- Manage the cleaning frequencies according to the specification document, ensuring full compliance with same
- Liaise with external sub-contractors to ensure works are coordinated and completed in line with agreed schedules
- Attend client meetings, developing strong internal customer relationships
- Ensure the Contract Manager is kept informed of any operational progress and any potential issues
- Ability to identify, implement and manage change
- Application and development of industry best practice to all sites on the contract, endorsing new company initiatives and ensuring they are implemented
- Actively participate in Industry Awards
- Assume financial responsibility, in conjunction with the Contract Manager, for allocated areas on the Profit & Loss account to include wages, equipment, janitorial supplies etc.
- Create and maintain a profitable service delivery model to include integration of bundled services where possible
- Identification of new business opportunities for the Group, to include both hard and soft services, advising the Contract Manager in this regard
- Oversee the recruitment and retention of a core group of competent capable Cleaning Operatives and Janitors to deliver best-in-class cleaning solutions
- Ensure all staff are fully trained in cleaning techniques including, Health and Safety and in accordance with BIC standards, keeping training records of same
- Manage annual leave requests, timesheets and all staff issues, complying with HR Policies and Procedures
- Manage a team of Supervisors in the absence of the Contract Manager
- Attend weekly client audits and deliver a program of site audits in line with the SLA
- Manage all aspects of cleaning on a day-to-day basis ensuring standards are met in line with the SLA
- Ensure that communication across each site represents the professional image of the Company
- Ensure that all staff are presented in full appropriate uniform
Additional Responsibilities – Acute Hospital Environment:
- Ensure strict adherence to Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) protocols, including isolation room procedures, terminal cleaning, and outbreak management
- Coordinate with clinical teams, nursing staff, and infection control departments to support patient safety and minimise healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs)
- Manage rapid response cleaning for high-risk areas such as Emergency Department, ICU, theatres, and isolation wards
- Support bed turnaround and patient flow initiatives, ensuring timely cleaning to avoid delays in admissions and discharges
- Monitor and manage zoning and segregation of cleaning staff and equipment to prevent cross-contamination
- Ensure compliance with HIQA, HSE, and hospital accreditation standards (or equivalent regulatory bodies)
- Lead and support deep cleaning programmes, outbreak responses, and emergency decontamination procedures
- Implement and monitor colour-coding systems, cleaning validation methods, and auditing tools specific to healthcare
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits, traceability, and infection control reporting
- Ensure appropriate use and control of hospital-grade chemicals and equipment, including COSHH compliance
- Deliver ongoing IPC-focused training and competency assessments for all staff
- Participate in hospital emergency planning, including major incident response and pandemic preparedness
- Support sustainability initiatives such as waste segregation, clinical waste management, and environmental hygiene improvements
- Drive a culture of patient dignity, confidentiality, and respect in all service interactions
Requirements
- Previous experience in the Facilities Management Industry, preferably within the Healthcare Sector but not essential
- Experience in a large acute hospital or high-risk clinical environment highly desirable
- Full Clean Driver’s Licence
- Valid Visa to work in Ireland on a full-time basis (essential)
- Fluent English
- Previous experience managing large teams
- Strong understanding of infection control, healthcare compliance standards, and audit processes - preferably but not essential
