Overview
Mount Errigal Hotel is seeking an experienced and motivated Leisure Centre Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our busy leisure club. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional member and guest experiences while driving membership growth, maintaining high operational standards, ensuring health and safety compliance, and leading a high-performing team.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations
- Oversee the daily operation of the leisure centre, including gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and changing facilities.
- Ensure the facility is clean, safe and maintained to the highest standards.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Manage pool plant operations and ensure all water quality records are maintained.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, develop and manage the leisure centre team.
- Prepare staff rotas in line with business needs and payroll budgets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and training sessions.
- Foster a positive, customer-focused team culture.
Membership & Sales
- Drive membership sales and retention.
- Develop promotional campaigns and community partnerships.
- Monitor KPIs including membership growth, retention and revenue.
- Maximise personal training, swim lesson and ancillary revenue opportunities.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional service to members and hotel guests.
- Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly.
- Monitor online reviews and implement improvements where required.
Financial Management
- Manage departmental budgets and control costs.
- Monitor payroll, purchasing and operating expenses.
- Produce monthly reports on performance, memberships and KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitability.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation.
- Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and emergency procedures.
- Ensure all staff hold relevant qualifications and certifications.
- Lead regular health and safety audits.
Marketing & Development
- Work closely with the Sales & Marketing team to promote the leisure centre.
- Introduce new fitness classes, wellness initiatives and member events.
- Stay informed on industry trends and recommend improvements to facilities and services.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' management experience in a leisure, fitness or hospitality environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and KPIs.
- Knowledge of pool plant operations and health & safety regulations.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and leisure management systems.
Desirable Qualifications
- Pool Plant Operator Certificate.
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (or equivalent).
- Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer qualification.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience managing memberships and leisure software.
