The Arklow Bay Hotel is a well-established 4-star hotel located in the picturesque seaside town of Arklow, Co. Wicklow, in Ireland’s scenic Garden County. Centrally positioned with excellent rail and bus links, and just off the N11 motorway, the hotel is easily accessible from both Dublin and Wexford. Nestled between a protected nature reserve and the Irish Sea, the hotel features 91 elegant bedrooms, extensive Conference & Banqueting facilities for up to 450 guests, The Pottery Restaurant, Ferrybank Lounge, and a fully equipped Bay Health & Leisure Club with pool, spa, and gym. We are now seeking a dedicated Linen Porter to join our Housekeeping team and support the delivery of exceptional standards throughout the hotel.
The Role
Reporting to the Accommodation Manager and Supervisors, the Linen Porter plays a vital support role within the housekeeping department. You will be responsible for maintaining linen supplies, assisting room attendants, and ensuring all service areas remain clean, organised, and fully stocked.
This position is ideal for someone who is practical, organised, and enjoys working as part of a busy hospitality team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and distribute clean linen to housekeeping stores and service areas
- Remove used linen and waste from guest floors and public areas
- Ensure housekeeping trolleys and storage rooms are fully stocked and orderly
- Assist room attendants with heavy lifting or additional requests when required
- Maintain cleanliness of linen rooms, corridors, and service areas
- Support the housekeeping team in achieving daily operational targets
- Follow all Health & Safety and hygiene procedures at all times
- A full, clean driver’s licence is desirable for driving a golf buggy between the laundry and the hotel.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience in a similar role or within a hotel environment (preferred but not essential)
- Be physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Be reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently under pressure
- Have a positive attitude and strong team spirit
- Be flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays
