Role Title: Group Health and Safety Officer
Location: Abbey Street, Dublin
Contract: Full Time, Temporary (9 months)
Vhi Group Services DAC have a full-time temporary role (9 months) for the position of Group Health and Safety Officer based in Dublin on a hybrid basis.
Reporting to the Group Health and Safety Manager, the Group Health and Safety officer will support the day-to-day management and development of health and safety systems. They will also support statutory compliance and drive continuous improvement across the Vhi corporate, insurance and clinical sites in Ireland.

What you will do:
- Support the Group Health and Safety Manager with the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Provide advice, information and guidance on health and safety matters to internal stakeholders, and support consultation including the Safety Committees and Safety Representatives.
- Act as an ambassador and promote the development of a positive H&S culture of excellence and inclusion within the organisation.
- Co-ordinate and support / deliver H&S training, (company requirements, procedures new legal requirements inductions etc.).
- Compile accident and investigation reports and data, supporting accident prevention and safety initiatives across Vhi.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of work areas, operations and systems; monitor and support corrective and preventative actions nationally.
- Supporting and co-ordinating Emergency Plans, evacuation procedures and drills;
- Provision of health and safety reports and metrics to Group Health and Safety Manager.
- Maintain and administer Health and Safety software and management systems around document control, auditing, incident reporting, CAPA etc;
- To Support the P&S Operational team in additional tasks and projects that maybe required from time to time.
What you will need to be successful:
- Third level qualification in Health & Safety or similar is required or recognised safety qualification (PGDip/NEBOSH Dip, BSc).
- Membership of IOSH at Corporate level (or working towards) or equivalent.
- Full drivers licence required.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience within a relevant H&S role, experience in a health care setting would be an advantage but not mandatory.
- Strong IT skills incl. Microsoft Suite
- Experience in risk assessment, competent and strong understanding of Irish and EU health and safety legal requirements in diverse workplace.
- Competent auditor and training experience.
- Enthusiastic individual with an interest inf driving change and working in a dynamic team.
- A self-starter with a proven ability to work on own initiative, with problem solving, innovation and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in delivering training.
- Proven organisational skills - ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver key service level agreements and priorities.
