Quantity Surveyor & Estimator (Structural Steel)
A new & exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced QS & Estimator to join us and work on several large, high profile projects nationwide.
The suitable applicant will be responsible for the following:
· Preparation of tender documentation, measurement, estimation and submission of same.
· Full cost control of contracts, liaising with team members.
· Prepare and submit monthly valuations and final account agreements.
· Producing weekly/monthly cost value reports for Management.
· Attendance of all relevant site design team meetings, site safety meetings, office meetings and cost review meetings.
· Value Engineering/Value Management of projects.
· Continuous review of cash flow to ensure optimum levels are maintained.
· Implementation of new estimating and cost recording methods.
· Prepare and issue subcontract documentation including the Letter of Award and company H&S Pack.
· Collate and value weekly labour allocation sheets using agreed rates.
· Ensure weekly Plant Records (Internal and/or Ext Hired) are completed by site.
· Collate and value Plant Record Sheets using agreed rates.
· Regularly review the plant programme with the Site Co-ordinator and update if required.
· Prepare monthly subcontracts liabilities / accruals at each month end.
· Ensure timely completion of the monthly contract cost report, identify problem areas and trends, report on any monthly movements and substantiate gains / deficits on each activity code.
· Analyse returned subcontract quotes and establish best VFM.
· Explore and promote areas where opportunities may exist to the Operations Manager.
· Issue Subcontract Payment Notifications as and when required.
· Issue cost allowances to the Site Agent and review budgets for work being undertaken.
· Ensure that Subcontract Pre-Appointments are being completed by the sites.
· Obtain subcontractors insurances and UTR details before work commences.
· Review disruption authorised Variation work has had / may have on site progress and other works.
· To introduce improvements, where appropriate and in consultation with the Operations Manager, to areas of your responsibility.
· Follow up and negotiation of supplier enquiries & quotations.
· Completion of tender checklists.
· Successfully collaborate with key stakeholders to include with clients / client representatives, architects, consultant engineers, site managers, supervisors, planners etc.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate:
- High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to put procedures in place and follow them
- High level of attention to detail
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Motivated team player and ability to take initiative
- HNC / Degree educated Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
- Have at least 5+ years’ experience working for a Main Contractor.
- Ideally experience in managing structural steel projects.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
