Duties of the Role:
- To lead the day-to-day organisation and management of the Afterschool Care Programme, ensuring high standards of care, play, and learning opportunities for children aged 4–12 years in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
- To plan, implement and oversee a varied programme of creative, recreational, educational, and age-appropriate activities that meet the interests and developmental needs of the children.
- To supervise, support and motivate the School Aged Care team, promoting effective teamwork and ensuring the smooth running of the service.
- To build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and colleagues, maintaining open and professional communication.
- To support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, using positive behaviour management strategies and conflict resolution techniques.
- To ensure the service complies with all relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- To maintain accurate records, attendance registers, accident/incident reports, and any other required documentation.
- To ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, carrying out risk assessments and promoting best practice in health and safety.
- To support the Centre Manager in the ongoing development, evaluation, and quality improvement of the School Aged Care Programme.
Requirements for the Role:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with school-aged children, with previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role desirable.
- QQI Level 6 (or higher) in Early Childhood Care & Education, Childcare, Social Care, or a related qualification.
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Child Protection training (or willingness to complete).
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently while leading and supporting a team.
