ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will lead the strategic development and commercial performance of key categories of spend. As Buyer, you will actively keep up to date on new market trends and innovations, working closely with and managing relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience in furniture and print categories, a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for procurement. Vendor management and contract negotiation experience is also essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop and foster positive, long-term relationships with strategic suppliers
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring delivery issues and under-performance are appropriately addressed
- Working closely with the Sales, Purchasing and Operations teams, manage large, complex orders through to delivery
- Carry out competitive tenders to both identify potential new suppliers and enhance the commercial position with existing suppliers
- Partnering with the Sales and Marketing teams you will drive revenue and margin growth by monitoring product trends, pricing and profitability and creating product ranges for new and existing products
- Ensure supplier contracts are in place and optimised
- Collaboration with internal stakeholders including the Finance, Customer Service, Operations and Sales Teams.
- Track and report on Spend and Savings
- Contribute to and lead strategic projects that enhance trading performance and category impact
- Track market trends, analysing data to inform category strategies
WHAT YOU WILL BRING?
- Honours Degree (Level 8) in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, eCommerce or other relevant discipline
- 6+ years in a buying, category management or procurement role
- A strategic thinker and fast learner with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong mathematical, commercial and business acumen
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent organisational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability to work independently, carry out own research, make decisions and take initiative while seeking appropriate approvals
- Strong Excel skills and experience
- Lean or Project Management skills and MCIPS certification is desirable
