About the Role:
We are seeking a Mill Operator to join our team, primarily overseeing feed production through centralised computer systems. While most of the role is desk- and computer-based, it also involves hands-on intervention to resolve mechanical issues, such as clearing blockages or resetting equipment. A mechanical mindset is highly valuable for understanding mill processes and troubleshooting production errors effectively. Your focus on accuracy, safety, and quality will help ensure the consistent production of high-standard animal feed.
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; weekly rotation between days (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.) and nights (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.).
Key Responsibilities
Monitor feed production via centralised computer systems.
Adjust equipment digitally and manually to maintain production targets.
Perform manual interventions when required, including clearing blockages, resetting equipment, and minor adjustments.
Collect and analyse in-process samples to confirm compliance with quality standards.
Use mechanical understanding to troubleshoot issues quickly and maintain smooth operations.
Escalate equipment faults or breakdowns to the Maintenance team promptly.
Work closely with colleagues to ensure efficient mill operations.
Skills / Competence:
Mechanical aptitude to understand processes and troubleshoot production issues.
Competent with computer-based control systems and production record-keeping.
Flexibility to switch between desk-based monitoring and hands-on tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in production, manufacturing, or mill operations.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience operating machinery is an advantage.
- Proficiency with IT systems
