Thrive: Trinity College Dublin's Strategic Plan 2025 - 2030
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a study focused on deer population modeling, and specifically to work on the development of an integrated population model, in California, USA.
This project is funded by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, in collaboration with the University of California, Berkeley.
The goal of this project is to utilize extensive, diverse datasets over decade plus-long timescales to estimate deer population size and dynamics in California, USA. This will be done by formulating an integrated population model (IPM) that ties together multiple data types that describe deer population and demographic information such as faecal capture-recapture, GPS collar-based movement and survival, and camera trapping-based detections and counts. Project results will help inform sustainable harvest levels and other conservation and management actions in the state.
