Registered Nurse Required – Short-Term Full-Time Role
BRESING Project: Breath Sensing for Non-Invasive Glucose Monitoring
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and registered nurses to support the BRESING project, a research study developing a non-invasive diabetes breathalyzer for monitoring blood sugar levels.
The successful candidate will support participant testing at Dublin City University (DCU), Glasnevin, working with approximately 100 participants over a one-month period. Each participant appointment will take approximately 30 minutes. Flexible working hours may be required, as participants will be scheduled based on availability and glucose monitoring slot availability.
Role and Duties
The nurse will be responsible for:
- Collecting finger-prick blood glucose samples from participants for reference glucose measurement.
- Supporting breath sample collection, including guiding participants to blow into a clean balloon for breath analysis.
- Explaining the study clearly to participants, answering basic questions, and ensuring participants understand the testing process.
- Welcoming participants and helping them feel comfortable, warm, safe, and respected throughout the appointment.
- Collecting survey/questionnaire data, including information related to recent food intake and medical history.
- Maintaining accurate records and following study procedures, ethical guidelines, and data confidentiality requirements.
- Working with the research team to ensure appointments run smoothly, safely, and professionally.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a registered and qualified nurse.
- Have experience or confidence in finger-prick blood sampling.
- Have excellent communication and participant-care skills.
- Be professional, reliable, organised, and compassionate.
- Be eligible to work in Ireland.
Contract Details
- Position: Registered Nurse – Research Study Support
- Basis: Full-time, short-term contract
- Start Date: 6th July 2026
- End Date: 6th August 2026
- Location: Dublin City University, Glasnevin
- Salary: Paid as a salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
