We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Colour Consultant to join our team at Centre Park Road, Cork on a permanent part‑time basis (22.5 hours per week). This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in interior design, a passion for colour, and the confidence to deliver professional, design‑led consultations to customers in‑store.
What You Will Do
As a Colour Consultant, you will:
- Provide expert colour advice, create colour schemes, and guide customers through interior design decisions.
- Conduct professional in‑store consultations, tailored to each customer’s space, style, and project needs.
- Use your design expertise to recommend products, finishes, and combinations that align with current trends and customer goals.
- Maintain strong knowledge of our colour range, including paints, finishes, and accessories; training will be provided.
- Support the branch in delivering a premium customer experience aligned with the Pat McDonnell Paints values.
Additional Retail Responsibilities
While this is primarily a design‑led role, you will also support the wider team when required, including:
- Assisting customers on the shop floor.
- Maintaining the colour consultancy area.
- Advising on in‑store promotions.
- Using tills and stock systems (training provided).
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- A full or partial qualification in Interior Design or a closely related discipline.
- 2–3 years’ experience in interior design or colour consultancy (portfolio/examples required).
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of design trends, colour theory, and interior styling.
- Strong design sensibility with a proven ability to create balanced colour schemes.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in leading customer consultations.
- A self‑starter with commercial awareness and the ability to close sales through expertise and trust.
- Confidence using MS Excel.
