The Role: Marketing Proofreader
Do rogue apostrophes annoy you? Do you enjoy correcting errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax? Can you spot an en dash from an em dash? Are you always striving for perfection? If the answer is yes to all these questions, then read on!
We are looking for a Marketing Proofreader to join the Digital Marketing team in Letterkenny. We want a candidate who is detailed orientated and takes immense pride in their work. We want to grow the career of someone who is a self-starter and enjoys working in a team environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys big challenges, thinks outside the box - and is always willing to raise the bar.
Key responsibilities:
- Proofreading copy to ensure it is error free and marking up documents to suggest changes, where needed.

Becoming familiar with client's style guidelines to ensure their content is consistent.

Being familiar with American-English spelling and pointing out any discrepancies in copy.
- Checking documents which are updated annually or quarterly to ensure financial facts and statistics that are carried over are accurate.

Using project management tools to keep track of project status’ and record time spent on tasks (training will be provided but familiarity with these tools are a plus.)
- Maintaining good relationships with clients to ensure projects stay on track.
- Prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met for long-term assignments and expedited requests.

Monitoring content to ensure it is inclusive of all users and suggesting alternative, more inclusive language, where appropriate. This will be in line with the client’s inclusivity guidelines.
Additional responsibilities
- Creating tools for accessible content, including writing tooltips for forms and alternative text for images for screen reader users to give context to non-sighted users to help them navigate content .
- Staying up to date with current marketing trends to suggest and develop new ways to help clients create relevant and engaging content.

Understanding client briefs and creating copy in line with client requirements, in the proper tone, and in line with brand guidelines and revising as necessary.
- Partnering with design teams to produce visually and editorially compelling assets.
Key skills/knowledge/experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.

Experience in proofreading.
- An interest in career development.
- Ability to perform and remain organised while meeting tight deadlines.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members, and management and clients along a wide spectrum of technical abilities.
- 1-2 years of experience.
Good to have:
- Understanding of WCAG standards and best practices.
- Ability to copyedit is a plus.

Experience of working in cross-cultural teams across different time zone.
