The Opportunity We are now seeking a Regulatory Analyst to join our Group Regulation Team. The Group Regulation Team is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic approach to regulatory matters which align with the ambitions of the EirGrid Group. The Group Regulation Team has a pivotal role to play in supporting the delivery of EirGrid Group’s Corporate Strategy in Ireland and in the context of the evolving European energy landscape, including the energy transition, offshore development and matters such as future interconnection. The Group Regulation Team is responsible for management and development of regulatory relationships, development of regulatory arrangements, revenue frameworks and price reviews, formulation of Group Regulation Policy, management of the Customer Charging process for connecting parties in Ireland, and oversight of regulatory compliance and all relevant licensing, regulatory authorisations and consents.
Key Responsibilities As Regulatory Analyst, you will lead on the delivery of a number of EirGrid’s regulatory reports and other regulatory compliance requirements, ensuring that EirGrid’s compliance requirements are met and contributing to the delivery of EirGrid’s Corporate Strategy to transform the power system. The role provides an opportunity to learn, to further develop your expertise and to work in a high profile multi-disciplinary team alongside experienced subject matter and industry experts across the EirGrid business, supporting a range of diverse and strategic pieces of work. As Regulatory Analyst, you will be the point of contact for the Regulatory Authorities regarding your assigned regulatory compliance requirements. Reporting to the Regulation Programme & Compliance Manager under the Head of Group Regulation. The successful candidate will:
- Assist in carrying out EirGrid’s regulation function that includes regulatory reporting (internal and external), running public consultations and preparing recommendations for Regulatory Authority approval.
- Deliver on assigned regulatory deliverables for submission to the Regulatory Authorities and/or publication on our website.
- Driving best practice when reviewing regulatory reports and documents from the wider business as necessary.
- Support the management of the business’ regulatory programme including co-ordination of Price Review ongoing reporting requirements.
- Assist in the compilation of the business’ regulatory deliverables and compliance requirements.
- Act as point of contact for specific regulatory deliverables with the Regulatory Authorities.
- Support the procurement of external consultants, if required.
- Support the Head of Group Regulation and Group Regulation Management in relation to strategic regulatory projects.
- Carrying out such other functions as may be required from time to time to support delivery of EirGrid’s regulatory strategy.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in business, engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2 years’ post qualification experience in a similar role, in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical abilities, coupled with the ability to make reasoned judgements based on available information.
- Ability to draft documentation in a rational, evidence-based, clear and concise manner.
- High level of attention to detail and pride in one’s own work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to define and progress work independently.
- Demonstrated flexible working approach with ability to organise workload to prioritise effectively.
- Ability to develop a network of key internal stakeholders to support delivery of regulatory requirements.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of working in a regulated utility/ regulator/ energy sector.
- Knowledge of the Irish energy regulatory landscape.
