EPS Group is currently recruiting for an Automation Engineer to join our growing Automation Team. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Automation Manager and will involve travel to client sites across Ireland, depending on project requirements. The role will be based out of Western regional office in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo.
The successful candidate will initially work alongside experienced automation engineers before progressing to lead and support projects independently. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on innovative projects within the water and wastewater sectors.
Key Responsibilities

Support the design and development of control and automation solutions for water and wastewater

Prepare and maintain project documentation and commissioning records

Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, telemetry, and control system software

Design, install and commission PLC/HMI control systems

Support SCADA and telemetry systems

Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and troubleshooting activities

Engage with equipment and system vendors to identify and implement effective automation solutions

Provide technical support, maintenance assistance, and troubleshooting services to existing clients

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the standardisation of automation solutions across the business
Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Level 8 Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline

Minimum of 3-5 years' post-graduate experience in automation, control systems, or industrial engineering environments

Strong PLC programming experience with platforms such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric, Omron, ABB, or equivalent

Experience with SCADA systems including platforms such as AVEVA or similar

Strong fault-finding, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Good understanding of industrial communications and networking protocols

Knowledge of object-oriented programming and modern automation architectures would be advantageous

Experience within the water and wastewater sector is desirable

Ability to work effectively in a live project environment and adapt to changing priorities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships

Self-motivated, professional, and capable of working on your own initiative

Full clean driving licence
