- Role Title: Lecturer of Occupational Therapy
- Contract Type: Part-time, Fixed Term and Part-time, Permanent (multiple roles available)
- Salary: Range €500-€3000 (block module payments based on contract type)

Role Overview
As a Lecturer of Occupational Therapy with Portobello Institute, the purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, practitioner focused teaching on the Occupational Therapy programmes. You will support students in developing the knowledge and skills required to become competent occupational therapists. You will contribute to programme development, academic quality, and student success among diverse learners.
You will work as part of the Department of Health Sciences, contributing to Portobello’s mission to make education accessible, relevant, and student-centred. This role requires strong academic and professional expertise, effective communication, initiative and a commitment to acting with integrity and professionalism at all times.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Teaching and assessing students at a postgraduate level including the delivery of lectures, practical learning activities and assessment feedback.
- Developing, reviewing, and enhancing module content and learning resources to ensure alignment with professional and regulatory standards.
- Managing and updating learning materials on e-learning platforms, including moderation of discussion boards.
- Providing academic support and guidance to learners through face to face, online and blended learning.
- Supporting students in developing clinical reasoning and person-centred approaches in occupational therapy.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders as required
- Maintaining accurate records, data, and documentation in line with internal and external standards
- Contributing to continuous improvement and effective ways of working
- Demonstrating behaviours aligned with Portobello’s values in all interactions

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with CORU or HCPC registration.
- A relevant postgraduate degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Experience applying Occupational Therapy practice knowledge in education or clinical supervision contexts.
- Experience supporting, supervising, mentoring or educating learners in academic or practice-based settings.
Desirable (Recommended)
- Previous teaching experience within higher education.
- A broad range of experience across Occupational Therapy practice areas.
- Experience using virtual learning environments and educational technologies to support learning.
