Knockeen Nursing Home is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead our dedicated team and oversee the delivery of exceptional person-centred care within our home.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the highest standards of nursing care, regulatory compliance, and resident wellbeing. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Quality Care
- Lead and manage the team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care.
- Develop, implement, and continuously review nursing policies, procedures, and clinical practices in line with current legislation and best practice.
- Monitor and evaluate care outcomes, quality indicators, and resident satisfaction, implementing improvements where required.
- Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous quality improvement.
Team Management & Development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to nursing and care staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to meet residents’ needs while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Support recruitment, induction, performance management, and retention of staff.
- Facilitate ongoing education, training, and professional development opportunities for all staff.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, HIQA standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and coordinate inspections, audits, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure robust governance systems are in place.
Operational & Strategic Management
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the home's strategic objectives and business plans.
- Work collaboratively with senior management to ensure effective budget management and resource allocation.
- Support occupancy growth and service development initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless and holistic care delivery for residents.
Communication & Relationship Management
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, staff, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.
- Promote open communication and a culture of respect, dignity, and teamwork throughout the home.
- Act as an advocate for residents, ensuring their rights, choices, and independence are respected at all times.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Qulification:
- NFQ Level 8 Honours Nursing Degree
- Post registration Management qualification.
- Not later than 31st March 2028 must have one of the following
- A post registration Management or Leadership certification in health or a related field at a minimum of NFQ Level 8
Or
- A Nursing post-graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 9 on the NFQ which includes a management or leadership module.
- Meet all HIQA requirements for the role
Experience:
- Have not less than 3 years’ experience in a management capacity in the health and social care organisation within the previous 6 years.
- Not less than 3 years’ experience of nursing older persons within the previous 6 years.

Pay: €70,000.00-€85,000.00 per year
