Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking General Operative to join our tree surgery team.
This is an entry-level position suited to someone who enjoys practical outdoor work and wants to develop a career in the tree-care industry. Previous tree surgery experience is not essential, as training will be provided to the right person.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced tree surgeons, assisting with the safe and efficient completion of residential, commercial and public-sector projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist tree surgeons and ground staff on site
- Prepare work areas and help maintain safe exclusion zones
- Move, stack and process branches, timber and other materials
- Assist with site clearance, loading and general clean-up
- Use hand tools and approved machinery following training
- Help maintain tools, vehicles and equipment
- Follow all company health and safety procedures
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients and members of the public
- Complete other general duties required by the site supervisor
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Reliable, punctual and willing to work
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
- Able to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
- Interested in learning about trees, machinery and arboriculture
- Respectful of clients’ homes, gardens and property
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, farming, gardening or another outdoor role would be helpful but is not essential
- A full clean driving licence would be an advantage
