Position Summary
The Workshop General Foreman role is a highly versatile and hands-on position, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities within a busy Wexford-based facility. No two days are the same, with the role covering a broad range of mechanical work, maintenance, repairs, fabrication, stock control and general workshop activities.
This is not a purely supervisory position — during quieter periods, the Workshop General Foreman is expected to chip in and work hands-on alongside the team, helping to keep the workshop productive and supporting the wider operation.

- Performance Management: Monitor daily output to ensure work is completed to technical specifications and project timelines.
- Mentorship & Training: Oversee the onboarding of new staff and ensure all team members are competent in the use of workshop machinery and safety procedures.
- Quality Control: Conduct final inspections on all work produced by the team before it is dispatched to site, ensuring it meets company quality standards.
2. Project & Site Support
- Lead internal development projects and fabrication tasks within the workshop.
- Manage the preparation and inventory of containers, ensuring all necessary tools and equipment are loaded and ready for site deployment.
- Coordinate the logistics of equipment dispatch and return.
3. Maintenance & Inventory
- Manage workshop stock levels, including consumables, raw materials, and spare parts.
- Implement and oversee a preventative maintenance schedule for all machinery and fleet equipment.
- Ensure the workshop environment is organised, efficient, and clean.
4. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all machines, hand tools, and storage areas remain fully compliant with Irish Health & Safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain documentation (risk assessments, tool logs, etc.).
- Enforce strict adherence to PPE requirements and workshop safety protocols.

- Safety Focused: In-depth knowledge of H&S standards (e.g., HSA requirements, machinery guarding, manual handling).
- Logistics: Ability to manage stock inventory and project-specific logistics.
- Licensing: Full, clean driving license required.
Competencies
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues on-site or in the shop under pressure.
