About the role
We're looking for a motivated, patient-focused dental nurse to join our specialist orthodontic practice. Working chairside alongside our orthodontist, you'll play a key part in delivering an excellent experience for our patients — from their first consultation through to the day their braces come off. Orthodontic experience is an advantage, but we're happy to provide training for the right candidate with a strong general dental nursing background.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting the orthodontist chairside throughout treatment, including bonding and debonding, fitting and adjusting braces, placing separators and bands, and bonding retainers
- Taking digital scans, impressions and clinical photographs, and maintaining accurate patient records
- Preparing the surgery and instruments for each patient and carrying out decontamination and sterilisation in line with infection prevention and control standards
- Educating patients on oral hygiene, diet and how to care for their appliances, and reassuring nervous or younger patients
- Managing stock, ordering orthodontic materials, and keeping the clinical area clean, tidy and well prepared
- Supporting the smooth running of clinics and assisting the wider team as needed
Requirements
- Qualified dental nurse, registered with the Dental Council of Ireland (or working towards registration)
- A caring, professional manner and genuine focus on patient care
- Strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team
- Sound knowledge of infection prevention and control
- Orthodontic nursing experience and/or a post-registration orthodontic qualification (desirable)
- Radiography qualification (desirable)
What we offer
- A friendly, supportive team and a modern, well-equipped practice
- Training and development, including support towards orthodontic qualifications
Pay: €18.00-€22.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
