Responsibilities
- Work directly with the founder to shape technical priorities and turn customer needs into reliable software.
- Own features from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
- Develop the Python services and data pipelines connecting customer sites, energy optimisation, and flexibility markets.
- Integrate commercial batteries, solar systems, HVAC, and other devices through manufacturer APIs and industrial protocols.
- Build customer-facing features and internal tools using React and TypeScript.
- Improve platform reliability, security, observability, and automated testing as GridVolt scales.
Requirements
Essential
- 3+ years of software development experience
- Strong Python experience
- Experience with SQL databases
- Experience integrating REST APIs and messaging technologies such as MQTT
- Experience with Linux, Docker, production deployments, and operations
- Experience with cloud deployment and monitoring
- A can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn, grow, and solve problems beyond your current comfort zone
Nice to have
- Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript
- Knowledge of the energy sector, including solar, battery storage, HVAC, or flexibility markets
- Experience with industrial automation protocols such as Modbus or BACnet
- Experience with machine learning and optimisation, including linear programming or MILP
- Experience working with commercial batteries, solar systems, HVAC, or other flexible energy assets
