Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical/HVAC Designer to join a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team delivering complex and technically advanced projects. This role focuses on sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, assembly and test facilities, and other advanced industrial environments.
The successful candidate will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support, working on some of the most complex facility designs in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and coordinate design tasks to support the delivery of construction documentation alongside engineers and designers.
- Develop HVAC system layouts for advanced manufacturing environments.
- Support the design of mechanical systems in collaboration with Mechanical Engineers, including:
- General HVAC systems
- Cleanroom HVAC systems with precise temperature and humidity control
- Plumbing and utility systems
- Produce conceptual and preliminary design deliverables, including airflow diagrams, general arrangements, and 3D models.
- Design ductwork systems based on P&IDs and Air Flow Diagrams (AFDs).
- Develop detailed design documentation and perform quality control and clash detection within 3D models.
- Collaborate in real time with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, structural, architectural, civil, and process disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers on a project basis.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Requirements
- Technical diploma, associate’s degree, or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in HVAC design using Revit.
- Strong understanding of HVAC design principles and relevant codes and standards.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to interact with engineers, clients, and vendors.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with AutoCAD and HVAC design tools such as Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D.
- Experience in the design of mechanical, plumbing, and utility systems.
- Familiarity with BIM and 3D coordination tools such as Navisworks, CADWorx, or SmartPlant 3D.
