About Murphy's
Murphy's Ice Cream has been handmade in Dingle since 2000. We use Kerry milk and cream, real ingredients, and a craft approach that has built a reputation extending well beyond Ireland. Our Wicklow Street shop is one of six Murphy's stores nationally and is at the centre of how we operate in Dublin.
We are growing. We are investing in our people, our systems, and the way we run our retail. The Store Manager role in Dublin is one of the most visible and important leadership positions in the company.
The role
This is a genuine leadership role. You will own the store: the team, the culture, the guest experience, and the commercial result. Wicklow Street is a high-footfall city-centre location with a mix of Dublin locals, domestic visitors, and international tourists. It trades year-round at meaningful volume, which means the role is as much about consistency and team development as it is about peak-season delivery.
Two things sit at the heart of how this role is judged.
Coaching.
Murphy's invests in coaching as a discipline. You will build a team that can deliver our standard of hospitality consistently, whether you are in the room or not. That requires deliberate development of individuals: knowing where each person is, what they need, and how to bring out their best. The skills you build here will stay with you throughout your career.
Commercial and entrepreneurial ownership.
Murphy's Store Managers are expected to think commercially and to act on what they see. Local partnerships, community activations, format ideas, and ways to deepen the Dublin guest experience are yours to develop, with the Regional Manager's support and the autonomy to test and iterate.
What you will do
People and coaching
- Build, develop, and retain a team that consistently delivers Murphy's hospitality standard
- Coach the Assistant Manager and Host team through structured conversations, real-time feedback, and individual development
- Run daily briefings and post-shift reviews that build collective capability, not just compliance
- Recognise strong work actively. Address performance issues early and honestly
- Recruit and onboard new team members thoroughly
Guest experience
- Set and hold the standard for hospitality on every shift, present or not
- Handle escalations and complaints with ownership and good judgment
- Ensure product knowledge, storytelling, and presentation reflect Murphy's at its best
Commercial and operational
- Own the store's commercial performance: revenue, labour, waste, NPS, and repeat-visit indicators
- Identify and act on opportunities specific to Dublin: local partnerships, events, seasonal activations, format ideas
- Manage the rota to balance guest experience with efficient labour deployment
- Oversee stock, ordering, and supplier relationships within agreed frameworks
- Maintain compliance with food safety, HACCP, and health and safety requirements
- Report weekly to the Regional Manager: performance review, team updates, operational issues, and opportunities
What we are looking for
You will bring at least 3 years of management experience in food, beverage, or premium retail. Beyond the experience, the following matter:
- A track record of building and developing teams. You can speak specifically about how your input has changed how people perform
- An entrepreneurial mindset. You spot opportunities and move on them. You are energised by shaping a store rather than following a fixed script
- Commercial awareness. You understand how team performance, guest experience, and financial results connect
- Confidence with autonomy. You make calls, take ownership, and escalate what genuinely needs it
- Experience managing high-volume trading periods and varied customer mixes
- Genuine alignment with how we operate: warmth, care in craft, and ease under pressure
Familiarity with Lightspeed, Deputy, or similar systems is useful but not required. Experience in tourist-heavy or city-centre retail is a plus.
What Murphy's offers
- A competitive salary, benchmarked for a high-volume Dublin city-centre management role and reviewed annually
- Genuine ownership of the store and the autonomy to lead it
- Active investment in your development as a leader and coach
- A clear pathway for progression for those who want to grow further
- Inclusion in Murphy's leadership and development programme
- Employee discount and team events
- A company that is growing, investing, and building something worth being part of
Murphy's Ice Cream is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
