Responsibilities/ Duties
· Assess the individual needs of the resident and prepare a plan of care in consultation with the resident and their families
· To provide support for the resident in everyday living activities.
· To promote physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing of the resident.
· To create opportunities and choice for residents to live the fullest life possible and to promote resident independence.
· Assist in the training and supervising of the care assistants, monitoring standards of care and ensuring safe practices.
· To observe, report and record clearly and precisely any changes in resident condition and observe problems in the home.
· To assist in maintaining safe levels of care, monitoring standards of care and ensure safe practice.
· Ensure that medicines are ordered, stored, controlled and administered in compliance with the required policies and regulations and in line with An Bord Altranais guidelines.
· To liaise and carry out the instructions of the Residents General Practitioners and other professionals attending to residents.
· To treat residents, families, visitors to the Home and other work colleagues with courtesy, politeness, dignity and respect at all times.
· To work accordance with the regulations pertinent to the running of the Nursing Home, i.e. safety, Health and welfare at work act 2005.
· Oversee the day to day upkeep of the Nursing Home and where required to help keep the home clean, tidy and presentable at all times. This promotes a better and safer environment for people residing, visiting or working in Ealga Lodge.
· Work in accordance with the policies and procedures laid down by the Management and HIQA.
Requirements (Skills & Qualifications)
- Registered with NMBI
- Be eligible to work in Ireland
- Experience working in a Nursing Home or Older Person setting desirable but not essential.
