Overview
A well-established engineering and infrastructure services provider is seeking a skilled Plant Fitter / Mechanic to join its maintenance team in the Kildare region. This role involves the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy plant machinery and equipment used in infrastructure and rail-related operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of plant and machinery.
- Diagnose faults efficiently using appropriate diagnostic tools and methods.
- Repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on equipment such as:
- Excavators
- Dumpers
- Rollers
- Road-rail vehicles (RRVs)
- Complete routine servicing to manufacturer and company standards.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of servicing, inspections, and repairs.
- Support breakdown response and emergency repairs when required.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and condition reports on equipment.
- Work both independently and as part of a team to meet operational deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Experience working with construction, rail, or agricultural plant machinery is desirable.
- Relevant mechanical qualification (e.g., FETAC/QQI Level 6, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
- Full, clean driving licence (essential).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work overtime or on-call when required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working on rail plant or road-rail vehicles (RRVs).
- Familiarity with safety-critical environments or infrastructure projects.
- Welding or fabrication skills would be an advantage.
- Safe Pass, Manual Handling, or other site safety certifications.
