Ballycommon Civil Engineering are currently looking for Concrete Finishers/Kerb Layers to join our team on an ongoing project based in Ballyvolane, Cork.
As a Concrete Finisher / Kerb Layer is responsible for placing, shaping, finishing, and curing concrete for footpaths, kerbs, gutters, driveways, slabs, and other structural or decorative concrete surfaces. The role requires precision, physical stamina, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare work areas by setting up forms and ensuring correct alignment and levels.
· Measure, mark, and install kerb boxing/formwork.
· Pour, spread, and level concrete using hand tools and power tools.
· Shape and finish kerbs, gutters, and concrete surfaces to specification.
· Use screeds, trowels, floats, edging tools, and power trowels.
· Ensure proper curing of concrete.
· Cut control joints and expansion joints as required.
· Operate machinery such as concrete saws, vibrators, and small plant equipment.
· Read and interpret site plans and drawings.
· Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
· Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
· Work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, and machine operators.
Skills & Requirements
· Safe pass & Manual Handling required.
· Proven experience in concrete finishing and/or kerb laying
· Strong knowledge of concrete mixes, curing methods, and finishing techniques.
· Ability to set string lines and work to levels and falls.
· Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
