Noreside Engineering Group, a leading provider of precision engineering and fabrication solutions in the South East, is seeking a qualified and experienced Fitter to join our dynamic team in Kilkenny.
Role Summary
Noreside Engineering Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and mechanical installations across both our workshop and client sites. This is a hands-on role requiring a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering work to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical equipment and machinery in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on a wide range of industrial and commercial equipment.
- Install, commission, and test new mechanical equipment and components.
- Carry out gearbox inspections, bearing replacements, shaft alignments, and general mechanical repairs.
- Inspect and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, identifying and rectifying faults as required.
- Carry out chain and conveyor maintenance, including tension checks, replacements, and alignments.
- Complete accurate maintenance records, job sheets, and reports in a timely manner.
- Liaise with site supervisors and clients to ensure work is carried out with minimal disruption to operations.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Participate in on-call or breakdown cover as required.
- Support and mentor apprentices and less experienced team members where applicable.
- Work flexibly across workshop and site-based locations as required by the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter — apprenticeship or equivalent recognised qualification (City & Guilds, FETAC, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in a maintenance or engineering environment.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, couplings, conveyor systems, and hydraulics.
- Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Valid driving licence — travel between sites will be required.
- Safe Pass and manual handling certification (or willingness to obtain).
