Role Overview
The Junior Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial and tendering functions of renewable energy infrastructure projects including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), electrical infrastructure, grid connection projects, heat pump installations, and energy efficiency upgrades. Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, project managers, and engineering teams, the role will assist with cost management, procurement, tender preparation, subcontract administration, and commercial reporting.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to project costing, contract administration, and commercial risk management across multiple renewable energy developments.
Key Responsibilities
Tendering & Pre-Construction
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documentation and commercial proposals.
- Support the development of cost estimates, pricing schedules, and bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Assist with supplier and subcontractor pricing enquiries, quotation analysis, and support commercial negotiations.
- Assist in the preparation of commercial tender analysis and bid summaries.
Commercial Project Delivery
- Support the commercial management of renewable energy construction projects.
- Assist with project cost tracking, forecasting, and budget control.
- Support the preparation of monthly cost reports and financial updates.
- Support management of variations, change orders, and commercial correspondence.
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation and project records.
Project Close-Out
- Assist with the preparation of final accounts and commercial project close-out documentation.
- Support reconciliation of project costs against budget and tender allowances.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a quantity surveying, tendering, or construction commercial role.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a project delivery team.
