In line with the HSE National Programme for Progressing Disability Services, Kare is the Lead Agency for the provision of supports across South Kildare West Wicklow. The successful candidate will join an established Interdisciplinary CDNT, which reconfigured in 2014, providing quality, evidenced based and family-centred supports for children and young people aged 0-18 years, who present with complex needs associated with disability, within an interdisciplinary framework, to support their development to enable active participation in community life.
The Senior Psychologist develops and provides a quality, evidence-based therapy service.
Duties include:

Be able to plan, prioritise and organise a clinical caseload relevant to the role

Plan assessment and deliver individualised or group interventions as appropriate to the needs identified
- Demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills and decision making that supports the needs of the service user and meet the specific needs of the caseload

Collaborate with the service user, all carers and supports staff to identify goals for the service user and plan interventions as appropriate to the situations that present

Effectively manage and maintain the psychology resources, facilities and equipment

Ability to participate in case reviews or case conferences and take on a lead clinical role as appropriate in these situations

Maintain standards of practice and levels of professional knowledge by participating in continuous professional development initiatives and attendance at courses as appropriate and ensure compliance with statutory registration requirements.

Facilitate basic grade colleague development through the use of clinical supervision and performance management systems, and informally through coaching and mentoring as appropriate
Essential Criteria:

Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject

Have an Irish post-graduate professional doctorate psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology or an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.

Demonstrate competence in working with adults with Disability
And

Have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate experience in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the postgraduate professional qualification and no less than two years full-time spent in post-qualification experience as a professional psychologist.

Applicants must demonstrate that they have acquired at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist in a disability setting.

Full Clean Licence - access to own vehicle

Experience in research/evaluation, working as part of an MDT and psychometric measurements would be an advantage.
