HGV Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced and qualified HGV Mechanic to join our busy workshop team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of our fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, including HGV tipper trucks, concrete mixer trucks and other commercial vehicles.
Key Duties
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
- Carry out repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and other vehicle components.
- Maintain and repair tipper trucks and concrete mixer trucks.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled vehicle inspections.
- Identify defects and complete repairs efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Prepare vehicles for inspections and ensure they are maintained to the required roadworthiness and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of servicing, maintenance and repairs carried out.
- Ensure workshop equipment and tools are used safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety procedures.
- Carry out other reasonable workshop duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate should:
- Be a qualified HGV/Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or hold an equivalent recognised mechanical qualification.
- Have previous experience servicing and repairing HGVs or heavy commercial vehicles.
- Have strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Have experience with diesel engines, braking, suspension, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a workshop team.
- Have a strong understanding of vehicle safety and preventative maintenance.
- Be reliable, organised and capable of working to a high standard.
- Hold a full driving licence. An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:30pm plus optional over time on Saturdays
Salary
€44,500 to €55,000 per annum
