We are currently recruitment for a permanent Data Product Owner position in either our Dublin of Sweden office.
JOB PURPOSE
The Mining Data & Analytics (D&A) team has several data products which are shared across multiple divisions within Sandvik. It also has several Division specific data solutions and data rooms used to support the business in their analytical needs.
The Data Product Owner will work closely with the business to validate and analyse requirements, agree on priorities, and ensure that the D&A team delivers and continued to develop high-quality data products.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain the product roadmap. Define how the product is likely to grow. The product roadmap should evolve. It should be expressed in terms of objectives based on goals rather than features. It will align to Sandvik business strategy and reflect the priorities of the Business Value Streams. The product roadmap will require considerable liaison with stakeholders typically it will have a timeframe of more than one year. The roadmap will align to measurable KPIs. It will be sufficient to create feature epics and stories allowing the Data Product Owner to manage a backlog.
- Manage cross team backlogs and priorities on multiple data products according to defined business goals and costs. This also requires that the product backlog is ordered according to the overall business strategy. To ensure alignment, it may require early intervention regarding scope or velocity. The successful outcome of this task will be: Product sprints and allocations are in line with Portfolio Epic milestones. This task will require the use of: MS DevOps & JIRA, Sprints Board, data bricks.
- Create user stories that are simple enough to be written in a few minutes and easily understood. These may require associated non-functional requirements. The successful outcome of this task will be: The user stories describe end-to-end small playable bits of functionality. The user story is sufficient for a developer to deliver a product that satisfies the requirement. The user story has a clear definition of done and kept updated during development period.
- Ensure the backlog is prioritized according to Portfolio Epic priorities. Ensure that items continually at the bottom of the backlog are removed. Ensure all stakeholders have access to the backlog. Assess the quality of entries on the backlog. The successful outcome of this task will be: The backlog is an accurate representation of the Data Product Owner priorities and reflects the Portfolio Epic prioritization. It is a practical tool for developers to work from.
- Manage Ops side of data products and identify areas for improvement to prevent recurring issues. This will require to work and understand Service now system.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on a number of Data Products and/or standalone solutions to help define and prioritize features based on business value and customer needs.
- Work in DevOps approach with aligned production and UAT releases.
- Present timelines and budgets for stakeholders and D&A team resource management
- Work with the development team to create user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that the product meets business requirements.
- Provide clear direction to the development team on what needs to be built and why.
- Test solutions before launching to business stakeholders.
- Use data bricks to check data and help to support business questions.
- Continuously prioritize and adjust the product backlog based on feedback from stakeholders and customers.
- Coach and mentor the team on Agile methods and product development best practices.
- Analyse business requirements and help in preparing mappings.
- Lead data product business groups and communicate timelines and goals.
- Improve D&A processes to manage and maintained data products from start to finish.
- Other adhoc duties as requested by your manager.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product ownership, project management, analysis or similar role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and communicate with stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to make informed decisions based on data and market trends.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Experience with scrum and agile methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA, Trello, MS devops or Asana.
- Experience with Power BI.
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements while maintaining focus on key objectives.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Familiarity with data warehousing development and methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Comfortable with coaching and mentoring the team on Agile methods and product development best practices.
YOUR PROFILE
The SMR Data & Analytics team is moving towards Agile methods, and the Data Product Owner will need to be comfortable coaching and mentoring the team. The Data Product Owner will also work closely and need to understand data sources and integrations multi-cross systems, and work closely with SAP.
