This is a hands-on role for someone who knows their way around customs documentation and Revenue/HMRC procedures. The role would suit someone comfortable managing multiple customs movements and deadlines in a fast-paced transport environment, where resolving issues quickly is critical to keeping vehicles and shipments moving.

- Ensure declarations comply with Irish Revenue, UK HMRC and EU customs requirements, including applicable post-Brexit procedures
- Manage customs requirements for GB–IE and GB–EU movements, including movements via Northern Ireland where applicable
- Liaise with customers, transport teams, drivers and customs authorities to resolve queries, holds, inspections and documentation issues promptly
- Monitor shipments and proactively identify missing or incorrect customs documentation before it causes delays
- Maintain accurate customs records to support internal reviews, Revenue/HMRC requirements and compliance audits
- Keep up to date with changes in customs legislation, tariffs, procedures and trade agreements affecting our core trade lanes
- Support the Customs Department Manager with process improvements and the day-to-day operation of the department
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience working as a Customs Agent, ideally within freight, logistics or transport
- Strong practical customs experience and a sound understanding of day-to-day customs operations
- Solid working knowledge of Irish, UK and EU customs procedures, including AIS/AES import and export declarations and NCTS/transit movements
- Good knowledge of commodity and tariff classification, customs valuation, origin, duties and VAT
- Experience with GB–IE and GB–EU trade lanes, including transit movements
- Familiarity with TSS and customs procedures for movements involving Northern Ireland would be a strong advantage
- Experience using Thyme IT or similar customs declaration software would be an advantage
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under time pressure
- Ability to manage multiple declarations, shipments and priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to deal directly with customers, drivers, transport teams and customs authorities
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving customs issues before they impact vehicle or shipment movements
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a busy customs team
- A relevant customs qualification or formal customs training would be an advantage but is not essential
