Roscommon County Council’s Information Systems (IS) department provides a wide range of ICT services to approx. 500 staff, 18 Elected Members, and delivers front-line services to members of the public and other stakeholders. The IS Project Leader is a senior management post within the department. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of Information Systems in leading the planning, development, control and maintenance of local authority Business and GIS Applications, and the technologies that support same. The IS Project Leader will also be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of ICT policies and strategies within the local authority and work closely with staff, elected representatives, external agencies, service providers and relevant stakeholders to deliver services to the highest standard. The ideal candidate must therefore be a highly motivated person, with a strong sense of commitment to delivering quality public services, willing to take on a challenge. The IS Project Leader will also be responsible for the efficient management, direction and deployment of resources to include day to day management of a unit within the IS Department. The IS Project Leader will also require a hands on and staff support involvement, and the individual selected will need to be able to investigate, analyse and resolve technical issues as the need arises. Due to the dynamic nature of ICT and the changing business requirements within the Council, all ICT posts require a flexibility to work within in a variety of IT roles.
The IS Project Leader’s role may span one or more areas of expertise. There are 2 streams, or areas of specialisation, in this campaign with opportunities to be placed on panels as follows:
Stream 1 – Information Security, Cyber Risk and Governance
Stream 2 – Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Data Management
Candidates can apply for positions in one or both streams provided they meet the relevant essential qualifications and experience.
Further information is available in the Candidate Information Booklet available on our website.
