O’Donohues Bakery is seeking a Packaging Operative for the evening shift. This role will co-ordinate the activities required to produce safe, quality products to agreed quantities and deadlines in a clean hygienic environment. The function of this shift is to ensure that all products are wrapped and packed to specification and prepared for dispatch in a timely manner.
- 5 days between Sunday and Friday (every Saturday and one other day off per week)
- 30-40 hours p/wk
Rosters change weekly and consist of Part nights and Full nights depending on workload demand for upcoming week. Off on Saturdays.
The evening shift starts at 6.00pm and the average finish time for a full night is 2am
Role Responsibilities:
- Operate the packaging equipment to a high standard.
- Pick orders and prepare finished products for distribution.
- Fit in to a team environment and contribute to the team's high performance
- Maintain Hygiene and Housekeeping and ensure full compliance with relevant food standards (BRC).
- Comply with company Health & Safety procedures and waste control.
- Contribute to a positive working environment where staff are motivated to work as a team to produce quality products on a consistent basis.
Key Skills and Experience required:
- Excellent communication, team-player.
- High standard of work and excellent work ethic.
- Good numeracy skills essential.
- Good attention to detail
- A logical and organised approach to their work with good initiative.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Experience working with machinery is an advantage.
- Mechanical aptitude is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of HACCP and BRC desired but not essential.
- Physically fit individual as this role involves manual labour and heavy lifiting.
Food industry experience or experience in a similar role is desirable. Experience in a lean manufacturing/production environment advantageous. Full training provided.
