Barberstown Castle Hotel in Straffan, Co. Kildare (W23CX40) are currently hiring for a Hotel Conference and Banqueting Set-Up Porter.
This 35 hour per week role is often an afternoon / evening / late night or overnight role which is focused on dismantling previous events, cleaning function spaces, and precisely arranging meeting rooms for the following day's itinerary. They ensure all setups align with function sheets and hotel standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Breakdown: Clear all used crockery, linens, and waste from previous events and meeting rooms.
- Room Setup: Arrange tables, chairs, staging, and seating layouts strictly according to the daily event function sheets.
- AV & Equipment Staging: Position audio-visual equipment (projectors, microphones, screens), extension cords, and stationery supplies.
- Cleaning: Vacuum, dust, and deep clean conference rooms, pre-function areas, and bathrooms so they are flawless by morning.
- Stock & Storage: Organise conference storage areas and ensure all leftover inventory is secured.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with the hotel management team and food & beverage departments to report any damage, missing items or any issues.
- Security & Safety: Ensure emergency exits are unblocked and fire safety regulations are strictly maintained.
Typical Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–2 years in a hospitality, banqueting, or event-setup role.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to frequently move furniture, stand for long periods and move briskly.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring table spacing, straightening chairs, and aligning equipment perfectly.
- Independence: Capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
