About the Role
Davenham Switchgear Ltd, a Legrand group company, is seeking a reliable and motivated Truck Driver / General Operative to join our team at our Clondalkin headquarters.
This role combines local and national driving responsibilities with hands-on operational support across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of materials, products, and equipment to customer sites and suppliers while ensuring compliance with transport, safety, and company procedures.
When not completing deliveries or collections, the role will support warehouse and production activities through general operative duties, helping maintain operational efficiency across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Driving & Transport Duties
- Driving a 10 Tonne Curtain-side Rigid
- Complete local and national deliveries and collections in a safe, timely, and professional manner
- Transport products, materials, and equipment between customer sites, suppliers, and company locations
- Plan and follow delivery schedules and routes efficiently while adapting to operational requirements
- Carry out vehicle safety checks and ensure vehicles are maintained in a clean and roadworthy condition
- Ensure all loads are secured and transported safely in compliance with transport regulations and company procedures
- Maintain accurate transport, delivery, and collection documentation
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, suppliers, and site personnel
- Support loading and unloading activities as required
General Operative Duties
- Support warehouse, stores, and production activities when not driving
- Assist with loading, unloading, packing, and movement of materials and equipment
- Help maintain organised, clean, and safe working areas
- Support stock handling and general operational tasks as required
- Assist wider teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operational activities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to company health and safety policies and safe working procedures at all times
- Ensure compliance with road transport legislation and company driving standards
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects, issues, or maintenance requirements promptly
- Follow all manual handling and site safety procedures
- Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach in all work activities
Requirements
Experience & Background
- Previous experience in a truck driving or transport role
- Experience completing local and national runs
- Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or general operative environments is advantageous
- Good understanding of transport safety and compliance requirements
Qualifications
- Full clean category C driving licence
- Valid CPC certification and Tachograph card
- Forklift licence is advantageous
