Purpose of the Role
To provide technical support and performance management across assigned grower, young breeder, hatchery and breeding sites, ensuring the highest standards of flock performance, animal welfare, biosecurity, compliance and operational efficiency. The role is responsible for supporting growers and site personnel, monitoring production performance, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations, and driving continuous improvement across assigned sites.
Key Responsibilities
Flock Performance & Data Management
- Manage and monitor flock performance across assigned grower, young bird, hatchery and breeding sites
- Maintain and update internal systems including: Agrilogic, Unitas
- Analyse flock performance data including: Feed intake, Water consumption, Growth rates, Mortality, and overall flock performance
- Monitor performance trends, escalate concerns and recommend corrective actions where required.
Farm Management & Technical Support
- Conduct regular farm visits to assigned sites
- Support the Farm Liaison Manager in the effective and efficient management of the assigned area
- Carry out pre-placement inspections and terminal hygiene assessments, ensuring sites are fully prepared prior to chick placement
- Develop and manage feed plans in line with requirements
- Provide technical advice and support to growers and site personnel
- Develop, monitor and follow up on site improvement plans with growers, ensuring agreed actions are completed within agreed timelines
- Support growers in achieving production, welfare and quality standards
- Assist with the development, review and communication of company Codes of Practice
Biosecurity & Health Monitoring
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of biosecurity across all assigned sites
- Conduct and coordinate boot swabbing programmes and water testing schedules
- Liaise with the company veterinary practitioner and other stakeholders to support optimal flock health
- Monitor flock health indicators and support disease prevention and control measures
- Coach growers and site personnel on biosecurity requirements and best practice standards
- Promote best practice in poultry husbandry, animal welfare and flock management
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure implementation and compliance with: Company Codes of Practice, Bord Bia standards, GMP requirements, Animal welfare standards, Biosecurity protocols, Origin Green, and Relevant Irish and EU legislation
- Liaise with the Farm Liaison Manager to prepare and maintain Bord Bia approval status across assigned sites
- Conduct compliance inspections and follow up on corrective actions
- Coordinate equipment calibration schedules and maintain associated records
- Maintain accurate records and documentation required for audits, inspections and certification programmes
- Support internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Monitor compliance performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
· Coordinate Salmonella and Avian Influenza surveillance programmes, including sample collection, submission and record management
Communication & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with growers, site managers, veterinarians and internal stakeholders
- Act as the primary technical contact for assigned sites
- Communicate flock performance, compliance requirements and operational issues in a timely and professional manner
- Deliver training and development activities for growers and site personnel
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across assigned sites
- Work collaboratively with production, technical, veterinary and management teams to achieve business objectives
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Third-level qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, Food Science or a related discipline
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites
Desirable
- Experience within poultry, duck, breeder, hatchery or wider livestock production
- Knowledge of Bord Bia standards and audit requirements
- Understanding of animal welfare, biosecurity and flock health management
- Experience using production management systems such as Agrilogic and Unitas
