About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Project Planner to support the successful planning and delivery of construction projects from tender through to project commencement and beyond. The role involves developing, analysing, and managing detailed programme schedules using industry-standard planning software such as Asta PowerProject and Primavera.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are realistically planned, risks are identified early, and programmes are aligned with client and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction Planning

Develop detailed tender and pre-construction programmes using Asta PowerProject

Analyse drawings, specifications, and scope documents to build logical project sequences

Collaborate with design, procurement, production, logistics and project teams for input on programme formation.

Documentation control of all technical and commercial bid documentation during project tender phase.

Support project managers during the project execution phase of projects

Work closely with estimators, quantity surveyors, and pre-construction design team during bid stages

Programme Development & Management

Create baseline programmes including critical path analysis and key milestones

Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities within project plans

Carry out programme sensitivity and what-if scenario analysis

Review subcontractor and supplier programmes for alignment
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with estimators, quantity surveyors, and pre-construction design team during bid stages

Support project managers during the project execution phase of projects

Participate in tender meetings, internal reviews, and client presentations

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programme accuracy
Reporting & Documentation

Prepare programme reports and visual outputs (Gantt charts, phasing diagrams, etc.)

Ensure planning documentation complies with client and contractual requirements

Maintain clear and auditable programme records

Documentation control of all technical and commercial bid documentation during project tender phase.
Continuous Improvement

Contribute to planning standards, templates, and best practices

Stay up to date with industry planning techniques and software advancements
Key Requirements
Qualifications
-
Third level degree preferred.
Experience
-
Proven experience in a planning role within construction or civil engineering

Strong pre-construction and tender-stage planning experience
-
Demonstrated use of Asta PowerProject (essential)

Experience with other planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) is desirable
Technical Skills

Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing

Expertise in programme development, critical path analysis (CPA), and delay analysis

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
