As Headfort enters the first phase of its three-year strategy, the school is strengthening the systems, routines and leadership structures that support an exceptional boarding experience. Central to this ambition is the appointment of a Senior House Parent, a new role designed to provide consistent, child-centred care for the pupils who reside in the Boarding House.
With boarders aged 10 to 13 living in the House, the Senior House Parent plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, communication, routine and emotional support. The Boarding House must be a place where children feel secure, known and encouraged, and where parents have confidence that their child is cared for with professionalism, warmth and consistency.
This residential role provides daily continuity for the children — greeting them in the morning, preparing them for the school day, welcoming them home in the evening, supporting their pastoral needs, and settling them to sleep. The Senior House Parent will help shape a culture of stability, kindness, responsibility and joy within the House.
This unique role sees the Senior House Parent reside in a renovated studio apartment of the West Wing in Headfort House. This accommodation package alongside generous remuneration and food allowance makes the role of Senior House Parent an extraordinary opportunity for the right candidate.
The purpose of the Senior House Parent is to provide consistent, child-centred care for the boarders who reside in the House, acting in loco parentis to ensure their safety, wellbeing, routine and emotional support each day. The role exists to create a warm, structured and nurturing environment where children feel secure, known and encouraged, while maintaining clear communication with parents and school leadership. As the constant adult presence in the Boarding House, the Senior House Parent upholds safeguarding standards, models positive behaviour, and contributes to Headfort’s commitment to offering an exceptional boarding experience in which every child can learn, live and flourish.
Pay: €16.50-€20.00 per hour
