POSITION OVERVIEW
Support with the development /collation and administration of programs and policies that result in Plant-wide compliance with Health & Safety statutory requirements. The position supports the safety function to create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment and assists the EHS coordinator with the management & delivery of the Health & Safety agenda and programmes for the site. Must contribute to the efficient and profitable operation of the Athy plant and maintain a positive work atmosphere, behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with employees, co-workers and managers, while achieving performance standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
1. Under the supervision and guidance of the EHS Coordinator:
1.1. Maintain the company’s Health & Safety Management System
1.2. Assessing chemical handling and risk assessing SDS for hazardous materials (raw materials and batches). Integration of chemical controls and requirements into emergency plan –procedures & identification of health surveillance requirements.
1.3. Collating chemical register and ensuring SDS are available and in the system for all products onsite.
1.4. Review and develop safety documents for assigned tasks including Policies, SOPs, forms and internal audit check sheets and reviews.
1.5. Prepare and or review process risk assessments of site operations.
1.6. Assist with employee work-related injury investigation and ensure that the corrective action is completed.
1.7. Assist with the delivery of new starter inductions and contractor induction training
1.8. Assist with the continual development and roll out of H&S training to site personnel.
1.9. Promote a positive safety culture.
2. Perform safety inspections and audits and behavioral observations of work areas, documentation and files.
3. Assist in organizing and completing fire and emergency preparedness drills.
4. Maintain and co-ordinate PPE inventory, issue and stocks management.
5. Maintain and review day-to-day safety records including first aid supplies, emergency check sheets and contractors risk management systems.
6. Monitor, analyse, and report on H&S performance metrics, highlighting trends and improvement opportunities.
7. Co-ordination of safety training programme: (mandatory training) sourcing suppliers, co-ordination training, managing records.
8. Co-ordinating PPE issue and inventory.
9. Managing first aid provisions and systems.
10. Determine appropriate and effective safety and compliance signage, bulletins and safety updates as required.
11. Review contractor’s safety induction, risk assessments and safety compliance
12. Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures pertaining to Quality Manual, Food Security/Food Defense, Sanitation, cGMP's, and HACCP/Food Safety.
13. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
