Principal Professional and Clinical Duties & Responsibilities:

Be the Pharmacy Lead for Medication Safety Officer.

Implement 5 year Medication Safety Strategic Plan and develop future plans.

Draw up annual Medication Safety Reports and annual Drugs and Therapeutics Reports.

Collaborate on an ongoing basis with other key stakeholders.

Maintain and further build culture of medication safety incident reporting.
-
Manage medication safety incident reporting including development and implementation of quality improvement plans arising from incident reports.

Lead on programme of Medication Safety Quality Improvement Plans.

Engage with and support regulatory compliance.
-
Delivery of medication safety related education.

Manage communications relating to medication safety including bulletins, alerts, etc.

Development and maintenance of guidelines, posters, policies relating to medication safety.

Prescription chart design/revision.
-
Maintenance and development of KPIs.
-
Manage Pharmacy staff in relation to medication safety and other aspects of Pharmacy as required.

Be available to rotate into all other duties of the Pharmacy Department as department needs require.
- Maintain competency in other pharmacy areas which must include Dispensary.

Participate in weekend pharmacy rosters.
Eligibility Criteria - Qualifications and Experience. Candidates must:

Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so registered.

Have at least five years satisfactory post registration hospital experience.

Possess a high standard of administrative, managerial, or business ability.

Have experience in Medication Safety (desirable).
