Vision Care Ireland is located in Limerick and produces the Acuvue range of contact lenses which is the leading contact lens product in the world. Our Limerick site uses the most advanced technology in the industry and we now employ over 900 people directly. Using our highly automated production process, we produce daily disposable contact lenses while utilizing state of the art technologies such as injection moulding, robotics, vision systems and sterilization systems.
The manufacturing facility was established in 1995 in the National Technology Park close to the University of Limerick. The facility was originally fitted with six advanced production lines to manufacture one daily disposable contact lens for the European and Japanese markets. Since then we have expanded a number of times and now have over 36 production lines manufacturing over 8 million one-day, fortnightly, monthly and cosmetic contact lenses per day which are shipped worldwide.

Each year, we have increased output because of the increase demand for our Acuvue lenses throughout the world. Continued expansion of our product lines utilizing latest advanced Injection Moulding technology and extensive NPI, engineering and retrofit projects ensure that this growth is sustained well into the future.
Purpose of the role: Responsible for shipping and delivery of finished goods to warehouse. Receipt and distribution of raw materials and shipment of customer orders from the site. Preparation of relevant paperwork.
Main areas of responsibility: − Pick and pack high volume orders and prepare shipping paperwork − Using fork lift, replenish pick areas and record stock movements − Investigate stock discrepancies − Maintains records on ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment. − Assemble batches and record transaction in the system. − Prepares and review requisitions for materials and equipment from relevant departments, − submits order to management for approval. − Contacts vendors with regard to supplies if necessary − Dispatches raw material and manufacturing supplies to manufacturing areas. (Document rejected material) − Conducts cycle counting. − Verifies quality and proper amounts of ordered merchandise. − Checks expiration dates and rotates items. − Batches and file daily issues, stock status reports, activity reports, etc. − Operations Services staff carry out the following duties: − Receives finished goods from factory − Keeps accurate and up to date inventories of all raw materials and inputs the data into Computer systems. − Coordinates with production, shipping, receiving and warehousing, to solve regular problems in supply and delivery process. − Checks expiration dates and rotates items. − Batch’s and files daily issues, stock status reports, activity reports, etc. − All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.
