Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Production Supervisor to join our Production leadership team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to lead a production team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for schedule adherence, workload allocation, training, quality standards, and the day-to-day performance of the area. The role requires a confident leader who can manage resources, develop employees, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, installation, or a similar operational environment. They will be comfortable supervising fabricators, technicians and operators, managing workflows, interpreting technical documentation, and working across departments to resolve operational issues. A strong focus on health and safety, Lean management, continuous improvement, quality, and employee engagement will be key to success.
Role Expectations
This role requires a professional, structured and hands-on approach to managing people, processes and priorities. The Production Supervisor will lead by example, take ownership of the department's daily performance, support the team in resolving day-to-day challenges, and foster a safe, customer-focused culture that consistently delivers quality work on time.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate should have a third-level qualification in Engineering or Business, a relevant trade qualification, or a proven track record in a similar supervisory role, together with a minimum of five years' experience managing people and processes in a manufacturing or similar environment.
They will possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to empower their team, encourage accountability, and work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Quality, Process Improvement, and other business functions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, while experience with SAP or a similar ERP system would be advantageous. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, fabrication and assembly instructions is essential. Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead production schedules, ensuring priorities are clearly communicated and achieved.
- Allocate workloads based on customer requirements, available resources, materials, and production priorities.
- Ensure work orders and projects are completed efficiently, monitoring planned versus actual time and addressing variances.
- Drive improvements in health and safety, workflow, quality, housekeeping, standard work practices, and departmental performance.
- Work with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
- Manage actions arising from daily production, quality and engineering meetings.
- Escalate production issues where required and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are completed.
- Ensure production and quality documentation is completed accurately for each project.
- Plan resources with the Production Manager to meet customer and production requirements.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles while ensuring customer requirements are achieved.
- Ensure employee training is completed, recorded and support ongoing cross-training and development.
- Promote a strong performance culture focused on productivity, quality, attendance, health and safety, and continuous improvement.
