Position Description
As we transition our electricity system to a high renewables low carbon system with customers at the centre, we need to maintain operational excellence and ensure security of supply, whilst developing and scaling more flexible demand. Networks have recently re-aligned our SMT structure to focus on Distribution Markets and System Operation (DMSO) capabilities required to meet the recent Energy Demand Strategy (CRU 21/06/2023) and accelerated Climate Action Plan targets. The new DMSO function will leverage the foundational skills & capabilities from the Smart Metering programme to underpin the transformation of Retail Markets and Network Operations, whilst also leveraging the agility of the NNLC project to drive an integrated design across DMSO which supports delivery of our Networks for NetZero Strategy.
The Operations Policy & Safety team member will be involved in the delivery of policies, procedures and plans associated with the safe management and operation of the transmission and distribution system & will also support development to improve general system performance and delivery. This position has a key role in taking the learning from operations audits and incidents and securing the benefits from this learning through our documentation and training.
Key Responsibilities
Management of the overall Operations Incident review process including the weekly and fortnightly review meetings, Synergie Life management and reporting.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Operations standards, policies and procedures regarding the safe operation of the electricity system, through engagement with OneSource Process for document review, development, and consolidation.
Support the introduction new Operations policies, standards, and procedures.
Produce Operations Content for the Monthly Safety Briefing.
Provide support for Storms and other Emergencies.
Contribute to the investigation of Operations Incidents and complete Actions arising from Operations Incident Investigation outcomes as Required.
Support as required front line operations teams at the full range of Voltages from a policy and operations safety perspective.
Support and carry out Operations and Maintenance Risk Assessments as required.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent leadership skills with a focus on delivering results.
Proven ability to work effectively as part as a team.
Desirable
Experience in writing or inputting to technical documents.
A working knowledge of ESBN Operations policies and procedures based on past experience.
Location
The location of this position is flexible, an appropriate base location will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
Reporting To
The successful candidate will report to the Operations Policy & Safety Manager as part of the Network Operations Team.

Salary
€59,000 - €70,000 per annum.
